Genell Sandberg, ph.D.

Dr. Sandberg received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Dakota. She is a licensed psychologist in Iowa and is also licensed as a Health Services Provider in Iowa. She completed a clinical internship with a forensic psychology focus at Atascadero State Hospital in Atascadero, California. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Addictive Behaviors Research Center at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Sandberg has held numerous clinical positions over the years and has worked in a wide variety of mental health settings. She has also done extensive public speaking and training on a variety of topics. Her Curriculum Vitae is available on this site. She has been in private practice for the last 26 years and is the sole owner of Parkview Psychological Services, P.C., which is a private mental health practice established in 1989 in Sioux City, Iowa. At present, her general practice primarily involves providing clinical services to adults. 


Brenda Crawford, ph.d.

Brenda Crawford, Ph.D., is a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Health Service Provider in Iowa. She provides mental health services to teenagers (14-18) and adults (18-100).  She received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University and completed her internship at the University of Iowa’s University Counseling Service. She has been trained in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders (including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Panic Disorder), relationship issues, eating disorders, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder, grief, sexuality/LGBT concerns, stress management issues, and identity concerns.  Clinically, Dr. Crawford is a generalist and is well versed in Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques, among others.  She has extensive experience with the college-aged population as well, having worked at numerous college counseling centers in her career prior to being in private practice.  In addition to her therapy work, she is Past-President of the Iowa Psychological Association. Matthew cihak, l.m.h.c.

Matthew received his Master of Arts degree in Community Agency Counseling from the University of South Dakota.  He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Iowa, and he is also certified as a Co-Occurring Disorders Professional-Diplomate and as a National Certified Counselor. 


 Matthew’s clinical experience comes from working with both adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, including inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings.  He has worked with adolescents who have struggled with behavioral and mental health issues.  Matthew has also worked with both adolescents and adults who have struggled with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues.  His specialty areas include Depression, Anxiety, PTSD/Trauma, Addictive Behaviors, Conduct Disorder, LGBT issues, as well as Couples, Family, and Group counseling.

 Matthew also has experience in the areas of clinical supervision and program management.  In addition to his clinical experience, Matthew has extensive experience developing and presenting trainings on a variety of topics to different organizations and audiences.   


Rebecca Whitlock, l.m.h.c.

Rebecca’s experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of behavioral and mental health issues.  She has specialized training in children’s therapy techniques and models, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and Circle of Security. Rebecca also has experience facilitating couples, family, and group counseling sessions.  In addition to her clinical experience, Rebecca has facilitated presentations and trainings pertaining to mental health and addiction issues.


Rebecca received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in psychology from Morningside College and her Master of Arts Degree in counseling from the University of South Dakota. She is currently practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa, is a Nationally Certified Counselor, and is a certified International Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Most recently she has become certified as a Level One Trainer for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.

Samantha Gee, office manager

Samantha has been the office manager of Parkview Psychological Services since July 1, 2018.  She has over 10 years of customer service experience, prior to her career at Parkview.

Samantha received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Administrative Office Management from Western Iowa Tech Community College.  Her smile and friendly demeanor, put clients at ease and characterize the welcoming atmosphere of the practice.
